I recently decided to get my RAA licence. I live in Adelaide and started to take some lessons at my local aero club but found that there were too many people doing the same thing as I and there werent enough aircraft or instructors for the job. I decided that if I wanted to learn in a realistic time frame or do the amount of flying that I want to do, I would have to buy my own aircraft. After looking around at many aircraft I decided on a Morgan Sierra 200 (in my belief there is no other aircraft in the same price range that even comes close to the Sierra) After this decision the only thing to do was to stay over there for a couple of weeks and learn to fly on type. When I arrived I was introduced to Ross and quickly felt very comfortable with his manner of teaching. Ross is an absolute wealth of information and a stickler for safety, even if he can be a pain in ass in his insistently doing everything perfectly haha. Thanks heaps Ross, I had a wonderful time while doing something that could have been very stressful and you have a great way of explaining and simplifying complicated topics - well done. I started learning to fly with Ross in October 2010 and in less than a year have achieved my RAA Pilots licence with passenger endorsement. I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole journey not to mention the sense of self achievement. I feel that I have been taught at a very high standard with Ross' attention to detail rubbing off. I have observed first hand the very high standard of maintenance Ross applies to his aircrafts. Ross and Yvette have been very welcoming and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mid Coast Flying to anyone thinking of giving this go and having some fun.
